Walk with Mary this Advent! All parishioners are invited to join us in Bonaventure Hall for our annual Advent Retreat. As Mary the Mother of Jesus gives flesh to her Son, she invites us to attend to the action of the Holy Spirit within us and around us. St. Francis of Assisi puts it this way: We are Mothers to Him when we carry Him in our hearts and we give birth to Him through the working of His grace in us which should shine forth as an example to others. The Archdiocese of Los Angeles and the city itself belong to Mary under dozens of titles: Queen of Angels, Our Lady of Guadalupe, Our Lady of Refuge, Immaculate Conception, the Assumption, and under a host of other images and names.
Our Retreat will be led by Fr. Dan Lackie and will feature prayer, reflection, and a special display of images of Mary gathered from throughout the Archdiocese by scholar (and parishioner!) Wendy Wright. In her book The Lady of the Angels and Her City, Wendy tells the story of her pilgrimage and witnesses to the power of devotion to Mary in the lives of those she interviews. As a gift to the parish, Liturgical Press is offering the book at a discount. For more information about the book or to register for the retreat, click below!
