In Gratitude
Dear Friend,
This Lent, as a faith community, we moved together across a wide swath of spiritual and pastoral territory. The threshold of Holy Week for me is made of gratitude. Here’s why:
Our Pastoral and Finance Councils led by Majalisa Van Thyne and Dawn Kirchner. Pastoral planning and budgeting were perfectly timed as a form of Lenten discipline!
Those preparing for full Initiation at the Easter Vigil. You reconnect me to the roots of my faith. Phil, Michael, and Kristina, offer loving mentorship of our new brothers and sisters;
Our Family Faith Formation coordinators and catechists – Daniela, Lovita, Conchita, Marion, Valeria, Nikki, Kristan, Myra, Alejandra, and Barbara; along with Fernanda, Tony, parents and sponsors in Sacrament Preparation. You inspire us all to give attention to the next generation! First Reconciliation was terrific - First Communion and Confirmation coming soon!
In Adult Faith Formation Lisa O’Connell and Jeremy Tanlimco gave us Lenten “calls to worship,’ “calls to action,” and the weekly Jubilee Prayer, and “parishioner dinners” (Lisa’s brain-child!), in all of it, risking a try at something new!
The Green Team, with LeeAnne and Suzanne at the helm, brought us the “Sacred Saunter”, while Loretta helps steer the Book Group. Lenten conversation at its best!
Our Musicians and Sacristans created two Taize Prayer events – Nora, Katina, Michael, Kristina, Mariana, and Lance, and volunteers led by Cathie Ramus launched Friday Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament.
Madeline Sten launched the Easter Lily Fund and the Secular Franciscans headed our food drive!
My friar brothers offered insightful Lenten homilies and served long lines for Confession!
Our pastoral care ministers were especially important during Lent, as was the Grief Support Group led by Suzanne. Christy stepped up to volunteer in the office, while Dale Francisco and Maria Cabrera as usual were “right there” when needed!
To all who joined our Lenten journey so generously, especially as new volunteers, you have my deepest gratitude!
Fr. Dan
